Sugarbird Sweets and Cakery

Hello everyone! Yes, it's been a LONG time since our last post. We couldn't believe how busy we've been the past few months. The summer flew by and then all of a sudden it was Christmas! The good news is that we now have dozens of cakes, cookies and cupcakes to feature on our upcoming blog posts :). To start things off, we decided to feature the wedding cakes that we worked on this past summer. We've included one we had already posted in early summer, but thought we should include it again here for those of you who may have missed it. First up we have a elegant single-tiered wedding cake. The bride went with a vintage theme to her wedding, so the cake was designed to match, with a beautiful ruffled design and a single pink peony. It was another busy weekend at Sugarbird! Wedding season is in full swing and we were excited to to not only be making the wedding couple's cake pop favours, but also their cupcake wedding display! First stop, cake pops! These little guys are small, but actually take quite a bit of preparation. The end product is a perfect delicious little ball of cake on a stick! We started by creating a whole bunch of these little cake bites (205 to be exact!), then got to work dipping them in chocolate and covering them in decorations. We went with pink and white to match the wedding colour scheme. After they were all dipped, it was wrapping time! Every cake pop was wrapped in an individual bag and tied with a ribbon. Luckily for us we enlisted some help to give us a hand with the wrapping process!  Then it was off to the reception where they were placed on each person's plate :) But it didn't end there!
