This Summer's Wedding Cakes!

Hello everyone! Yes, it's been a LONG time since our last post. We couldn't believe how busy we've been the past few months. The summer flew by and then all of a sudden it was Christmas! The good news is that we now have dozens of cakes, cookies and cupcakes to feature on our upcoming blog posts :).

To start things off, we decided to feature the wedding cakes that we worked on this past summer. We've included one we had already posted in early summer, but thought we should include it again here for those of you who may have missed it.

First up we have a elegant single-tiered wedding cake. The bride went with a vintage theme to her wedding, so the cake was designed to match, with a beautiful ruffled design and a single pink peony. We absolutely loved the simplicity and elegance of this lemon flavoured cake.

Next up was a super fun Margaritaville-themed cake! This cake was so much fun and PERFECT for a casual summer wedding taking place beside a lake. We loved the bright and crazy colours and we had a blast designing all of the little decorations to surround the water-coloured fondant. This cake was also lemon flavoured, which proved to be very popular for our weddings this summer!

We did several three-tiered wedding cakes this summer, the first one being this gorgeous blue ombre petal cake which we posted early in the summer. Just because we loved it so much, here it is again! :)

Next up was a tropical three-tiered cake, complete with handmade orchids which perfectly matched the wedding couple's orchid centrepieces.  We love the contrast of the bright pink and blues in the flowers to the minty green of the ribbon. And the silver pearls on each tier brought just a touch of sparkle to the already glowing cake :)

Finally, our last wedding cake was another three-tiered square cake. This cake was a simple and elegant cake, with the ultimate glamour saved for the cake topper: two handmade jewelled peacocks to match the sparkly ribbon surrounding each tier. We were thrilled with how the peacocks turned out and love the cascading tail draping down the back of the cake :)

We hope you enjoyed this summer's wedding cakes! We promise another blog post VERY shortly! We have tons of exciting designs to share with you so stay tuned! :)

Little Bit of Everything!

So it looks like we've been slacking with our blog posts again! We must be into the busy wedding and party season :). We've had a VERY busy few weeks with some super fun (and delicious) results! First, we'll start with all of the fun party cakes that we've been making recently.

First up, Bubble Guppies! Now we have to admit, before this order, we had absolutely no clue who or what the Bubble Guppies were. Luckily after doing some research, we were excited to find out that they were super cute ocean characters. We couldn't wait to get started making all of the fun characters and decorations to go with this theme! For this party we made Bubble Guppies cake pops, cupcakes and of course, a cake! We made this lucky two-year old's first birthday cake a year ago and couldn't believe that it had been a year already! We hope she liked her special birthday treats and can't wait for her third birthday! :)

Next up was a retirement cake for a local fireman. Anyone w…

Themed Cakes!

We LOVE making themed cakes! Any excuse to be able to make fun little characters/decorations/creatures works for us. And we'll be the first to admit, sometimes it's too easy to get carried away making item after item to go on the cakes! There's just so many ideas that come out once we start creating things to go with the theme! This week there were two themed cakes on the books. One was a super fun handy-man/bicycle themed birthday cake, and the second was an outdoorsy/fishing retirement cake.

First up was the birthday cake. We were told that the birthday boy was a handyman who loved cycling.  So many directions to go in! We decided on a workbench shaped cake, complete with all the tools one would need to work on, what else, a bicycle! And of course, what workshop would be complete without a gumpaste box of band-aids!

Next up was the retirement cake! We were told that the lucky retiree enjoyed the outdoors, nature and fishing. Luckily so do we! We took inspiration from num…

Festive Cupcakes!

We've been making A LOT of cupcakes lately!! Which is fine with us since there's usually extras for us to snack on afterwards... ;)

First up was an order for some Christmas themed cupcakes for an annual Christmas party. We decided to do red velvet cupcakes with our delicious cream cheese icing. To go with the Christmas theme, we added a festive red stripe to the icing and topped them all off with some holly leaves and berries. We were thrilled with the way they turned out and can't wait to use this striped decorating technique on other themes throughout the year!

Next up were some 50th birthday cupcakes. These were our famous carrot cake recipe with cream cheese icing and we decided on a gold theme to go with the holiday season! We made some gold ball lined stars with '50' on them, and finished off the decorations with some different sized gold dragees on top of the icing. We also made some mini cupcakes for a quick little bite :) We think they turned out glamorous…
